Steve cements relations with Indian politicians

Post Brexit we as a nation are going to have to find new markets to trade in and India represents one of the very best opportunities – especially when we have such a close relationship with companies like Tata who own Tetley’s in Greenford.

On August 24th my parliamentary colleagues Keir Starmer, Barry Gardiner, Valerie Vaz, Gareth Thomas and I had the opportunity to meet the President of the Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi in Parliament and later that evening with Virendra Sharma at the London School of Economics.

I don’t think that we can expect any favours from India on the basis of past connections – not all of which are seen as entirely positive from the Indian perspective – but we do have good links and occasions like this cement the friendship between individual politicians and act as a key to opening the door to the trading opportunities that we desperately need for the future.
