One Year On

I was asked by a number of my constituents to contact the Department for Education as they are concerned about changes to the special educational needs system and how these could impact the support currently provided for deaf children. A recent report published by the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) found that 6% of parents of deaf children noticed any improvements in the past year to the support their child received and that one in ten could express confidence that their local authority is successfully implementing the changes. I asked the Minister of State for Children and Families, Edward Timpson MP, to address the findings as well as the recommendations made as part of the NDCS report One Year On.
